Talking: Families

Counselling and / or Psychotherapy

Counselling and/or Psychotherapy: for Individuals, Couples and Families - facing difficulties and challenges of wide ranging descriptions.

I work with people with a wide range of reasons for seeking help. I have experience working with some of the most common life circumstances that people are facing including:

  • Bereavement and loss
  • Childhood difficulties: bedwetting; nightmares; not sleeping; school refusal and bullying
  • Depression and sadness
  • Employment issues: redundancy; harassment and bullying
  • Making and sustaining healthy relationships
  • People who are described and or describe themselves as obsessive
  • People who describe themselves as having: low self esteem; no confidence; appearance and eating disorders
  • Relationship breakdown between: couples; parents and children; siblings; colleagues and employers
  • Self harm
  • Sexual difficulties including sexual identity and development
  • Step Families learning to live together and apart. Blending different family traditions and cultures
  • Transitions such as retirement; diagnosis of a life long condition; caring for an elderly relative.
  • Traumas: loss; violence and abuse

I normally meet with people for an hour; sometimes first sessions are longer; meeting with different members of the family individually and together can also lengthen the overall time.

I welcome the opportunity to work with people of all ages, abilities, races, social and economic backgrounds, sexual orientation and genders.
